Firmware is found in many devices which need to interact with the real world using sensors. All around us there are devices with sensors measuring temperature, pressure, motion, and touch, among other things. Gathering and processing sensor data turns out to be much harder than just reading a device register. This session will discuss various techniques used to deal with the issues which arise when using sensors in the wild.

Examples include:
  • Baselining
  • Debouncing
  • Filtering
  • Hardware Abstraction
  • Processing Sensor data
  • Noisy data
  • Environmental factors
