Today, robotic surgery is generally perceived to be limited to a few specialties, largely grouped around the Intuitive da Vinci robot. But few people are aware that modern hospitals are currently using almost a dozen surgical robots and that more than fifty new robotic surgical devices are under development and headed to the market. In this presentation we identify 70 unique surgical robots, identify categories based on their capabilities, reveal important business impacts caused by these devices, and suggest what advances may appear in the near future.

Topics covered include:
  • What the next 5-10 years holds for surgical robotic innovation
  • The 4 categories of surgical robots and why that’s important to R&D efforts
  • Case examples of each
